PINCHBOTTOM'S "WAR!" TURNS A CORNER;
MOVES to THE FLEA for JULY
Closing of Collective:Unconscious moves Pinchbottom to nearby venue

THREE NIGHTS!
Friday, July 18 & Saturday, July 19 @ 10pm, Sunday July 20 @ 7pm
PINCHBOTTOM DECLARES WAR! (or, full frontal jacket)
at The Flea, 41 White Street, TriBeCa part of the undergroundzero festival
Admission: $15 | TICKETS: www.pinchbottom.com/tickets/ or 212-352-3101

As downtown theater mainstay Collective:Unconscious is driven from another venue--this time, not by rampant development but by structural problems--house burlesque show Pinchbottom's Sub:Conscious is moving (literally) around the corner for one month to present PINCHBOTTOM DECLARES WAR! (or, full frontal jacket) at The Flea.

"It's bittersweet," said producer Jonny Porkpie. "We're very sad to lose the venue which has been our monthly home for the past two-and-a-third years. On the other hand, our audiences prefer not to be showered with bits of the theater during the performance." Added producer Nasty Canasta, "Pinchbottom tends to bring down the house, but we prefer not to do it literally. We're very grateful that The Flea stepped forward to provide a venue that promises to remain standing for the duration of our first ever three-night run."

After PINCHBOTTOM DECLARES WAR performs at The Flea in July, Pinchbottom's Sub:Conscious will take August off, its first vacation in 28 months of producing the show. But what about the future? Will Pinchbottom continue producing their heralded hybrid of neo-burlesque and theater on a monthly basis? "Damn skippy we will," says Porkpie. "We have a fantastic, all-star fall season lined up, lampooning Reality Shows, British Murder Mysteries, and Dickens' A Christmas Carol, plus the much-requested return of our James Bond parody YOU ONLY PINCH TWICE. There's no way we're giving that up."

"We're looking for the perfect venue to host Pinchbottom's fall season, and beyond," said Tom Keenan of Collective:Unconscious. "C:U is excited to continue bringing Pinchbottom's innovations in burlesque--and live performance in general--to a larger audience. In fact, this is in many ways serendipitous; Pinchbottom had long since outgrown the Church Street venue, regularly selling out even after doubling the number of performances."

But for now, the show (we hear) must go on. And in July, thanks to the hospitality of The Flea, it will... when PINCHBOTTOM DECLARES WAR! -- the type of war, perhaps, that inspired presidential hopeful Barack Obama to proclaim "I am not opposed to all wars. I'm opposed to dumb wars."

Explore the inner mind of burlesque with 'Pinchbottom's Sub:Conscious.' Each monthly journey centers around a different theme, linking together striptease and variety acts from top performers with a topical narrative... and, believe it or not, a plot. 'Pinchbottom's Sub:Conscious' is where burlesque meets downtown theater, buys it a drink and takes it to bed. The show is hosted by NASTY CANASTA & JONNY PORKPIE, who should probably not be described at the Lunt-Fontannes of the New York Burlesque scene, although they do perform together with alarming frequency. "Comedy and partial nudity go remarkably well together. Where else can you hoot, whistle, and bust a gut laughing?" -NY Theatre.com; "Hilarious burlesque" -Next Magazine; "Your perverted genre fantasies have come shimmying to life" -Time Out New York
